faFAANG's architecture is structurally different from every competitor. Here is exactly where each type of data goes, described with the precision of an engineering audit:
1. Speech Transcription: Fully Local
faFAANG bundles a Moonshine speech recognition model directly inside the Electron application. The transcription pipeline works entirely on-device:
Audio frames are captured via the browser's audio worklet API in the renderer process. These frames are passed through Electron's IPC bridge to the main process. The main process feeds them to the local Moonshine speech engine, which converts the audio to text on your CPU. The resulting transcript is used to construct prompts for the AI model.
No audio is sent to faFAANG servers at any point in this pipeline. The microphone data never leaves your device during transcription. This is not a “privacy mode” or an opt-in setting. It's the only transcription path the application has.
2. Response Generation: Your Own ChatGPT Account
When faFAANG needs to generate a response, it doesn't call a faFAANG-owned API. The user logs into their own ChatGPT/Codex account within the application. This isn't a privacy policy promise. It's an architectural fact. faFAANG cannot access your interview data because the data paths don't include faFAANG's servers. The Moonshine model runs locally.
